Dandelion Farm is set in the beautiful Bitterroot Valley in western
Montana, between the Bitterroot and Sapphire Mountains.
At Dandelion Farm, our aim is to breed purebred Irish Draught horses
who possess the wonderful, essential qualities of the breed: intelligence,
excellent temperament, bone, substance, and athleticism while maintaining
breed type. While trying to keep all of those qualities in mind,
we also look for horses who represent outcross bloodlines in order
to help maintain genetic diversity within the gene pool of this
rare breed.

Foals expected for Spring 2009
All being well, we are expecting 5 purebred foals for the spring of 2009. The following mares are in foal:
Ballyhehan Beauty, dam of RID stallion Dandelion Diamond Rebel, is in foal to Celtic Moon.
Opium Poppy, multiple Hornby premium mare and dam of RID stallions On a High and Dandelion Transatlantic, is in foal to Harkaway Lionhawk.
Heathercombe Silver Satin, Select Hornby Premium mare, is in foal to Harkaway Lionhawk.
Dandelion Foolish April is expecting her first foal. She is in foal to Harkaway Lionhawk.
Coachlady Glyder is in foal to Huntingfield Proud Tim.
INSPECTION RESULTS
Dandelion Transatlantic is approved as an RID stallion! Dandelion Transatlantic, Brennie, was approved September 27 at the IDHSNA inspections. He is by Huntingfield Proud Tim and out of Opium Poppy. He stands 15.3 1/2 hands and has 9" of bone. The Irish inspectors called him a lovely traditional horse with good athletic ability and technique. They loved his good, flat bone and short cannons and "quality hindquarters."

Uibh Fhori Breeze passed inspection as an RID mare. Breezy was bred by Elizabeth Deane in Co. Cork, Ireland and was imported just shy of her two year old birthday. She is a lovely, small mare with very interesting outcross bloodlines.
Dandelion Honest Owen passed inspection as an RID gelding. He is by Huntingfield Proud Tim and out of Dandelion Moxie.
Dandelion Flashman also passed his RID gelding inspection. He is by Tim and out of Heathercombe Silver Satin.
West of Ireland passed her RIDSH mare inspecton. She is by Tim and out of Brush of Luck TB by Broad Brush.
J Cosmo Cosmo passed his RIDSH gelding inspection. He is by Tim and out of Baby Princess TB by Northern Baby'.
Nick of Time passed his RIDSH gelding inspection. He is by Tim and out of Y B Tardy TB by Java Gold.
Bridgeford Ferryman has just passed his RID inspection in Great Britain. He is Tim's half brother, by Timahoe Heather and out of Mountain Light by Deerpark Leader. Now, the Irish Draught world has 3 RID brothers by Timahoe Heather(the last direct male line descendent of Woodranger); Huntingfield Heathcliff, standing in Ireland, Huntingfield Proud Tim; and now Bridgeford Ferryman, standing in Wales. For contact information, see the IDHSGB website. We are so pleased and excited that this beautiful and genetically valuable stallion is available to RID mares.

Blue Wiggy was bred by Liz McFarland and Mike Wigen of Indian Creek Ranch. He is now in Louisiana learning to be a field hunter.
Dandelion Jazz Man (Mountain Pearl and out of Heathercombe Silver Satin) placed 1st in the 4 year old and up RID gelding class at the Annual Show in Chicago. Jasper is owned by Pat Jensen.
